BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH)–The Connecticut Beardsley Zoo will soon say goodbye to its two Canada lynx kittens. The six-month old kittens, Ruby and Penny, are part of a program that helps ensure the survival of endangered and threatened species.
The zoo encourages the public to visit the kittens before they’re transferred to their new home at the Buffalo Zoo.
“As sad as we are to say goodbye to Ruby and Penny, the kittens will be leaving us sometime this fall-as soon as their new home is ready,” said zoo Deputy Director Don Goff. “The planned transfer of animals to other member zoos ensures the sustainability of a healthy, genetically diverse, and demographically varied AZA population.”
The kittens were born on April 26th.
