(WTNH) – The Internal Revenue Service announced several new factors could affect tax refunds in 2017 for people claiming two key credits.
A new tax law requires the agency to hold refunds until mid-February for some taxpayers who are claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Additional Child Tax Credit.
The IRS said in a statement that the agency and state tax administrators continue to strengthen identity theft and refund fraud protections, which means some tax returns could also be delayed while they are reviewed.
