Connecticut’s attorney general and the Department of Consumer Protection advised people last month to use Payless gift cards by March 11th, before the company closes all 2,300 stores.
Payless is going out of business at the end of the month after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in February.
While gift cards do not expire in Connecticut, sudden store closings and bankruptcies may prevent consumers from using them.
Payless stopped accepted returns on March 1st.
