(WTNH) — In addition to the Pumpkin Spice Latte’s return, Starbucks is introducing a new kind of ‘spice’ to their fall line-up.
The new Chile Mocha is made with espresso and topped with cayenne, ancho chile, paprika, cinnamon, sea salt, whipped cream and just a sprinkle of sugar.
A Starbucks news release that the inspiration for the Chile Mocha partially came from a Mexican hot-chocolate called champurrado, which has a blend of sweet and spicy flavors.
Starbucks Senior product developer Michelle Sundquist says her team tried to infuse the warmth and spice one associates with fall into the beverage.
The firs sip should be warm and chocolatey, quickly followed by the creaminess of the whip and just a kiss of sweet and savory heat all at once. – Michelle Sundquist, Starbucks Senior Product Developer
The Chile Mocha is made hot, but can be just as delicious ordered as a Frappaccino.
The new fall beverage will officially be available in participating Starbucks stores on September 6th.
