NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Going on a trip sometime soon or looking for some perks to come your way? There’s a brand new list out of the top credit cards and airline rewards program after being reviewed by Card Hub. Before we get to the credit cards, let’s check out the airlines with the best rewards.
Card Hub found JetBlue Airways has the best overall program for frequent flyers but Delta Air is the best for average or light travelers. They looked at everything from miles that expire to those that make it easiest to change flights.
When you take out some of those important characteristics and only consider the value of miles, they found Frontier, Hawaiian and Alaska are actually the best for frequent AND light flyers.
Now onto the credit cards…
They found the best “all-around” credit card for travel is the Barclaycard Arrival Plus Mastercard.
They picked it partly because it comes with a 40 thousand- mile rewards bonus that’s redeemable for $400 in travel expenses. You also get 2% cash-back in miles on purchases.
The Capital One Venture card is another top all-around travel card. Their ongoing reward rate is 2 miles per $1 spent with no limits or expiration dates.
When it comes to credit cards tied to specific airlines, here’s what they came up with:
Frequent flyers may want to check out the Platinum Delta SkyMiles card. A few added perks after the bonus miles offered are a free checked bag on each trip, a free companion ticket each year and priority boarding. This is especially good for international travelers because there are no foreign transaction fees.
The best for domestic or business travel is the United Mileage Plus card. You get 2 miles for every one dollar spent with United as well as at gas stations, office supply stores and restaurants.
