WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — West Hartford Police have arrested five teens they say were involved in an armed robbery on Thursday night.
Officers say they were called to the Verizon Wireless parking lot at 1479 New Britain Avenue just after 9:30 p.m. Thursday for a report of an armed robbery.
The victim told police that he was in his car when a suspect approached him with a gun. The suspect demanded money and the victim’s cell phone. Police say the victim turned over his iPhone and told police he caught part of the plate number, 7757.
Shortly after, police say Farmington police reported a similar armed robbery. Farmington police found a car with the plate GO7757 and followed it into West Hartford. Police say the car was stolen. They say the car was stopped on South Main Street and five individuals were arrested, three of whom were juveniles. Inside the car, they found the stolen property from the reported victims and two guns.
Trevon Henderson, 19, and Samuel Lopez, 18, both of Waterbury were among those arrested. Both are charged with first-degree robbery/conspiracy, first-degree larceny, second-degree larceny/conspiracy, two counts of weapons in a motor vehicle, theft of a firearm, and altering a serial number/firearm.
Lopez is also charged with engaging in pursuit, reckless driving, and misuse of plates. Both were given $350,000 bonds.
The three juveniles were charged and turned over to juvenile court.
