NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– A 46-year-old man was cut in a fight that closed a New Haven street Tuesday morning.

Police say just before 7 a.m., a man and woman said that they were walking on Congress Avenue near Daggett Street when they encountered three people. According to police, from there the stories are inconsistent but a fight did ensue.

During the altercation, a 46-year-old man was cut in the abdomen and sustained a non-life threatening wound. Police say the victim also used a fake name when identifying himself.

Police believe the suspect is one of the three people they encountered but neither witnesses or the victim has been able to say which one.

Police say Daggett Street is closed for the investigation.
