Arrest made after CCSU student hit by car

NEWINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) — An arrest was made after a Central Connecticut State University Student was struck by a motor vehicle on Saturday evening.

The Newington Police Department officers arrived on scene to the area of Fenn Road and Myra Cohen Way to discover the victim unconscious on the ground. The victim, 21-year-old Matthew McGovern, of Unionville, was tended to by officers and was transported to the hospital.Related Content: Person hit by driver under the influence

The driver of the vehicle, Sergiy Svystun, 29, was placed under arrest for operating under the influence. The Mid State Accident Reconstruction Squad is investigating the accident further. Additional charges are pending and any witnesses with information regarding the incident are asked to contact the Newington Police Department at 860-594-6208.
