Arrest made in hit-and-run that left Meriden mother dead

MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Meriden police have arrested a local man who they say is responsible for a deadly hit and run last month. Police say 21-year-old Alex Checa is the driver who fled the scene after hitting Dania Cegeno-Delrosario on October 7th.

40-year-old Cegeno-Delrosario was struck while attempting to cross Springdale Avenue near Lewis Avenue. She was holding her daughter’s hand as they tried to cross the street. A witness on scene said Cegeno-Delrosario pushed her daughter out of the way to save her from being hit by the car.Related Content: Police identify woman killed following Meriden hit-and-run
