Branford man arrested for assault and reckless driving

Branford Police are investigating an evading motor vehicle accident and a domestic dispute that took place on Monday near East Main Street in Branford. 

According to police, the motor vehicle accident was followed with a domestic dispute at 211 East Main Street, Riverview Crossing. The suspect allegedly struck his ex-girlfriend and her friend with a vehicle. 

Officers responded to the call and apprehended the suspect as he was attempting to enter a parking lot of a nearby motel. 

Police identified the suspect as Matthew Trammel, 24 of Branford.

Trammel was charged with two counts of assaults, reckless driving, and evading responsibility. 

The two victims were transported to Yale New Haven Hospital with one sustaining serious physical injuries.

The Branford Police Department are still investigating the case.
