MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Police have located the vehicle that they say was stolen during a string of break-ins in Milford, in which an AR-15 and bulletproof vest were stolen from a State Police Cruiser.
Milford police tell News 8 the stolen vehicle, a green 2015 Ford Fusion with Vermont license plate number GHK528 was found in New Haven by New Haven police on Tuesday. They say the vehicle was unoccupied and no one was around the vehicle. The AR-15 was not in the vehicle and there is no word as to if the bulletproof vest was found.
Police say the vehicle has been towed back to the Milford Police Department for examination.
On Tuesday, twelve different cars were broken into in Milford, including a state police cruiser. Police say the suspect was able to break into the cruiser, find a key, and unlock the gun vault in the trunk where the AR-15 was kept. The suspect grabbed the rifle and bulletproof vest and threw the gun bag and ammunition in a neighbor’s yard.
State and Milford police say they are following leads as they continue their joint investigation.
