Connecticut State Police honored one of their own for his work using a specific piece of policing equipment.

For the past few years, troopers have been using license plate readers.

There are a series of hi-speed cameras that capture license plate numbers from long distances.

On Tuesday, Trooper Jason Cassavecchia was recognized for using the technology on I-84 to track down a homicide suspect from New York.

A company called SecureWatch24, which makes the license plate readers, presented the award to Trooper Cassavecchia.
