Hamden deli owner pleads guilty to tax evasion charges


The owner of a popular deli in Hamden has pleaded guilty to tax evasion.

Officials confirmed 52-year-old Raymond George, owner of Ray & Mike’s Dairy & Deli on Whitney Avenue in Hamden, has pleaded guilty to tax evasion.

Prosecutors say George underreported his income in 2012 and 2013 and failed to pay $200,000 in taxes.

George has agreed to pay back taxes, plus interest and penalties, and faces up to five years in federal prison.
