Hate crime graffiti spotted in Hartford, under investigation

On Monday morning, Hartford police responded to reports of hate crime graffiti involving racist and homophobic slurs as well as the anarchy and swastika symbols.

According to police, both incidents of hate crime graffiti were within one block of one another in Hartford

On the front of the Republic Restaurant on Capitol Avenue, racial slurs were spray painted as well as racist and homophobic slurs and the anarchy and swastika symbols depicted with marker graffiti.

On Main Street at the Hartford Dispensary, less than a block away, the second hate crime was reported with a swastika symbol drawn on the front door of the dispensary. 

Both hate crimes have been documented and will require more investigation as to who committed the crimes. 

The Hartford Police Major Crimes Division, Crime Scene Division, and Capital City Crime Center (C4) have been assigned to investigate.
