Heroin found during traffic stop in Hamden

HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A New Haven man was found to be in possession of heroin when he was stopped for suspicious activity in Hamden early Friday morning , police say.

According to authorities, an officer on patrol after recent smash and grab burglaries saw 23-year-old Ismael Vasquez pull behind the Country Food Market at 1:30 a.m. They say the officer stopped the car and found more than five grams of heroin inside.

Vasquez is charged with possession of narcotics. The James Street man was held on $2,500 bond and is due in Meriden Superior Court on July 8.
