Stamford-based lawyer Darnell Crosland turned himself in Tuesday at the state police barracks in Bridgeport and also was charged with conspiracy. He posted $35,000 bail.
State police said the arrest warrant for Crosland is sealed and officials did not release details of the allegations.
Crosland, of Norwalk, denies any wrongdoing and says the charges are related to his referring a man involved in a shooting to another lawyer. He says he couldn’t be the man’s attorney because he was representing another person involved in the shooting.
Crosland is a former president of the Norwalk branch of the NAACP and ran briefly for mayor of Norwalk this year. He was ordered to appear in court Oct. 10.
