PLAINFIELD, Conn (WTNH) — Plainfield Police have arrested a man after they say he damaged cars in a dealership parking lot.

The Plainfield Police Department responded to a call around 1:42 a.m on Wednesday about a person damaging vehicles in the BMB Motorworks parking lot on Norwich Road.

When police arrived at the scene, they discovered two cars with broken windows along with a broken security monitor at Storage Etc next door. Officers then spotted a man running towards the back of the dealership lot. They were able to capture the man and take him into custody for questioning.

The suspect was identified as Michael J. Higbie of Moodus. He told officers his car was parked near the dealership, but would not give them an exact location. Higbie admitted to being under the influence of alcohol and heroin at the time of the incident.

Around 5:50 a.m. that same morning, Plainfield Police received a call about a vehicle down an embankment near the new Napa building on Norwich Road. Officers later confirmed the car belonged to the suspect.

Higbie was charged with Criminal Mischief and Resisting Arrest. He was released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at the Danielson Superior Court on December 27th.
