PROSPECT, Conn. (WTNH) — A 28-year-old Enfield man has been arrested for his alleged role in an arson that destroyed two Prospect businesses in 2015.

On Thursday, police arrested 28-year-old Matthew Garguilo on two warrants for his role in the September 15, 2015 fire on Waterbury road.

At 5 a.m. on Sept. 15, police responded to a structure fire on Waterbury Road. The fire damaged two businesses, the Golden Wok Chinese restaurant and Masonry Inc. and Chimney. Following an investigation, officials determined the fire was intentionally set.

Garguilo, who is currently incarcerated with the state Department of Corrections for an unrelated incident, has been charged with second-degree conspiracy to commit arson, third-degree conspiracy to commit arson, conspiracy to commit possession of burglar’s tools, and first-degree conspiracy to commit criminal mischief.

Police say the case is still active and there are two related arrests pending for another person who they say is currently incarcerated in New Jersey.
