Manchester man allegedly stole checks from Glastonbury mailbox

GLASTONBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — A Manchester man has been arrested after he stole checks from the mailbox of a Glastonbury home, police say.

Twenty-eight-year-old Shane Gilbert turned himself in Thursday after police say he took the checks last November. They say he then forged the stolen checks in his own name to get the money.

The Autumn Street man is charged with nine counts of second-degree forgery, third-degree identity theft, two counts of fifth-degree larceny, and seven counts of sixth-degree larceny. He appeared in court after failing to post $4,425 bond.
