Norwich Police investigating Main Street bank robbery


NORWICH, Conn. (WTNH) — Police in the Rose City are investigating after a Monday bank robbery at the Eastern Savings Bank along Main Street.

Authorities were called to the bank at 257 Main Street at 1:06 p.m. on a 911 call. Upon arrival, officers learned that a male suspect had entered the bank wearing a blue and white baseball cap with a blond wig underneath it.

A teller surrendered cash to the suspect after he presented her a note. No weapons were implied or displayed. No one was injured. The suspect fled from the bank just before officers arrived on scene.

A State Police K-9 was brought in to assist tracking the suspect. The suspect’s scent was tracked to the rear of the bank where police believe he left the area in an unknown vehicle.

Police describe the suspect as a white male, 30 to 35 years old. He stands 5’06” to 5’08” tall with a medium build. The suspect has possible acne scarring on his face. He was wearing blue jeans, a gray with blue long sleeves shirt and black sneakers.
