DARIEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A Darien man is facing a number of narcotics-related charges after police say he was operating a drug factory.

According to police, an investigation began in 2017 into alleged narcotics manufacturing and distribution by a man on Shady Acres Road.

On Jan. 29, 2018, officers served a search warrant at the home of Jack Read. Inside of the residence, officials say they seized a substantial amount of evidence that Read was distributing marijuana and creating THC oil-mixtures. Authorities also say they located quantities of LSD.

According to police, the street value of these items was approximately $6,500. $400 in counterfeit currency was also seized by officials.

Read was arrested and has been charged with Operating a Drug Factory, Sale of Marijuana or Other Controlled Substance, and other related charges.

He was held on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 9.
