PD: Man arrested for trying to enter unmarked police vehicle in West Hartford

Crime

An East Hartford man was arrested on burglary charges after allegedly trying to enter an unmarked police vehicle in West Hartford early Thursday morning.

Police say that at around 12:30 a.m., an officer was conducting surveillance in the area of Jackson Avenue due to recent burglaries in the area.

During the surveillance, the officer says he saw a man walk in the middle of the road toward the area where the officer was parked in an unmarked police vehicle along the side of the roadway.

The man, later identified as 38-year-old Sean T. Colgan, then allegedly went to pull on the door handle at which point the officer exited the vehicle and detained him.

Colgan was then arrested not only for this but also for an outstanding warrant. He was charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools and possession of drug paraphernalia
