PD: New Haven teen arrested after police chase ends in crash

Crime

A New Haven teen was arrested after allegedly engaging police in a pursuit, before crashing into a cruiser on Thursday afternoon.

Connecticut State Police say that at around 4:14 p.m., officers were notified by New Haven Police that they had attempted to stop a red 2002 Audi A4 on Interstate 91 southbound, near exit 8.

Troopers were advised that the Audi was a suspect vehicle for armed robberies and likely had a firearm inside of it.

Police later found the car on Sargent Drive and I-95 and attempted to pull it over. However, the suspect instead engaged troopers in a pursuit before eventually striking a police cruiser on Blatchley Avenue.

The driver, later identified as 18-year-old Taezman Brewer, was then arrested. He was charged with interfering with an officer, reckless endangerment, engaging in pursuit and reckless driving.

Brewer was held on a $50,000 bond.
