PD: Teen arrested for DUI after fleeing Ledyard accident

Crime

An 18-year-old Ledyard man was arrested for allegedly knocking down a street sign and fire hydrant while driving under the influence Monday evening.

Police say that at around 6:41 p.m., officers received a 911 call reporting a one car accident on Long Cove Road at Military Highway.

An investigation revealed that a car that was traveling northbound on Military Highway drove off the roadway while attempting to turn right onto Long Cove Road.

The car then traveled into the yard of a private residence and struck a street sign as well as fire hydrant, knocking both down.

The driver, later identified as Skyler Davis, allegedly ran off on foot after the accident. However, Davis was found at a nearby residence.

Police say that they had probable cause to believe that he was under the influence of alcohol and or drugs.

Davis was arrested and charged with DUI, evading responsibility and failure to drive right. He was later released on a $1,500 bond.
