PD: Woman illegally collected nearly $29,000 in unemployment compensation benefits

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — A Bridgeport woman is facing charges after police say she illegally collected almost $29,000 in unemployment compensation benefits.

Tracey Brown, 50, was arrested following an investigation into a complaint by the Connecticut Department of Labor.

Officials say Brown fraudulently collected approximately $28,628 between December, 2011 and September, 2014 while working for six temporary staffing agencies.

Brown faces charges of Larceny in the First Degree by Defrauding a Public Community and felony Unemployment Compensation Fraud.

She was released on a $10,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 1.
