Police observed a red Saturn with no front license plate traveling eastbound on South Main Street and initiated a stop on Pond Street. Michael J. Murtha, 25, from Jewett City was identified as the driver and found driving with a suspended license.
During the investigation, police said that Murtha revealed there was narcotic drug equipment in the car, which was concealed by his sneakers. Officers searched the vehicle and found fentanyl.
Murtha was arrested for possession of narcotics and drug kits, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, and failure to display front license plate.
Murtha was arrested a second time on October 18th at 11 a.m. for driving under suspension. He is set to appear in court for both arrests on October 29th.
