Police: Hartford man caught shoplifting at Hamden Walmart

HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A Hartford man has been arrested for allegedly trying to steal from a store in Hamden.

Police say 27-year-old Jovanni Rodriguez was about to walk out of Walmart with $1,533.98 worth of merchandise on Friday. The Grandview Terrace man is charged with fourth-degree larceny and interfering with an officer. He’s due in court on May 26.

According to officials, Rodriguez first told officers his name was Vincent. Fingerprinting determined his name was Jovanni and that he was wanted on two arrest warrants out of Hartford.
