Police identify man killed in West Haven crash

WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — West Haven police have identified a man that was struck and killed along the Boston Post Road early Sunday morning.

Police responded to a call early Sunday morning at 2:07 a.m. regarding a pedestrian that was struck and killed at the area of Boston Post Road and Barbara Street in West Haven. After being confirmed by a medical examiner and family notifications were made the deceased has been identified as Rudy C. Portillo, 52, of West Haven.

West Haven Police located and identified the operator of the vehicle later in the day Sunday. There is no release of a description of the vehicle or the operator. Police will continue to determine if criminal charges are warranted. The investigation is ongoing.
