NORWALK, Conn. (WTNH) — A Stamford mother has been arrested after Norwalk police say she left a four-month-old unattended in her SUV twice Wednesday.

Officers were called to a parking garage at 770 Connecticut Avenue around 12:20 p.m. after someone heard the infant crying and found the child in a locked SUV with its windows rolled up. They say the baby was taken to Norwalk Hospital for evaluation, then released to the father.

Authorities say 46-year-old Hiroko Kurihara left the child in the car for an hour while working out at a gym Wednesday morning, then left the baby alone for about a half-hour around midday.

The Clovelly Road woman is charged with two counts of risk of injury to a minor and two counts of leaving a child unattended in a car. She is being held on $10,000 bond.
