Stamford drug dealer gets decade behind bars

STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) – A 25-year-old Stamford woman police say is the city’s most dangerous female criminal is heading to prison.

The Stamford Advocate reports that Amonda Mendez was sentenced Thursday to 10 years behind bars for drug dealing and using guns to enhance the drug ring she ran in Stamford and Bridgeport. Mendez is also subject to four years of supervised release.

She pleaded guilty last year to conspiracy to distribute more than 100 grams of heroin and using a gun while drug dealing.

Mendez was the subject of a wiretap investigation and federal authorities say they heard her sell more than 2,000 bags of heroin, 50 grams of crack cocaine, along with other drugs.

Police say she still faces charges for pistol-whipping a man in a rival gang.
