West Haven police arrest 1, seek another for robbery


WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — One man has been charged and another is sought by police for a robbery in West Haven on Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, units responded to the area of Harold Street and Dix Street around 2:00 p.m. following a report of a robbery.

Officials say the victim was assaulted and pepper sprayed by two individuals as he stood by his vehicle.

The suspects allegedly stole cash and fled the scene on food.

Following an investigation, police arrested Shadrach Stephenson of West Haven for the alleged crime. Units are attempting to identify the second suspect involved.

Stephenson faces charges of Robbery in the Second Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, Assault in the Third Degree, Larceny in the Third Degree and Conspiracy. Officers say Stephenson was also in possession of illegal drugs at the time of his arrest and faces additional charges.
