HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A North Carolina woman who embezzled more than $130,000 from her former Connecticut employer has been sentenced to prison.
Federal prosecutors say 44-year-old Susanna Kurus was sentenced Monday to 30 days in prison, followed by 60 days of home confinement.
Prosecutors say the former accounting manager used the Stratford company’s financial accounting software between October 2014 and June 2017 to transfer customer credits to at least six personal debit card accounts which she used for personal use.
The Garner, North Carolina woman stole $133,870.55. She pleaded guilty in March to wire fraud.
Kurus also must serve two years of probation, complete 100 hours of community service and pay full restitution.
She remains free on $200,000 bond and is required to report to prison in January.
