PD: Woman wanted on 9 warrants assaults Hamden officer

HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) - A New Haven woman was arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer after allegedly shoplifting from a Hamden store on Monday. 

Police say that at around 1:15 p.m., officers responded to the Burlington Coat Factory at 2300 Dixwell Avenue for the report of shoplifting. 

An investigation revealed that 22-year-old Zhane Flynn attempted to steal $130 worth of store merchandise. 

Upon police arrival, Flynn allegedly fled the store and then violently resisted arrest when she was apprehended by an officer. 

One officer suffered a laceration to the top of his head and was treated on scene by Hamden Fire Rescue.

It was later discovered that Flynn was also wanted on nine outstanding arrest warrants. 

She was then arrested and charged with robbery, assault on a police officer, interfering with a police officer, larceny, conspiracy to commit larceny and possession of a shoplifting devise. 

Flynn additionally had outstanding warrants for criminal trespass, larceny, violation of probation and failure to appear. 

Flynn was detained on a total of $60,000 bond.
