BRANFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – Today we’re Cruisin’ Connecticut to Branford, to a new roadside barbecue restaurant that is heating things up on the shoreline!
With the help of local artisans, “The Stand” was converted in just nine weeks from a gas station into (what is now) a one-of-a-kind community dining experience.
Restaurant co-owner, Greg Nobile says:
So our focus here is on local. It’s on clean food. It’s on healthy food and delicious craft beers.
As a Broadway producer, Nobile felt it was his job to bring the “theatrical experience” into the new hot spot:
My job is to bring a group of 1,300 people a night into a space into four walls and transport them into another place of time. And when we were creating the restaurant, we wanted every nuance detail of this restaurant to transport people and bring them together in community.
Head Pit Master, Eamon Roche gave us an inside look in the kitchen and the smoker, filled with local hickory wood.
Pulled pork, brisket, ribs, mac & cheese. The list of savory favorites goes on…
“The Stand” also has a fresh, farmer’s market, breakfast cart, and musical acts on weekends!
