HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – Several agencies across the state were targeted by a ransomware virus over the weekend, according to the Department of Administrative Services.

While most machines were protected with antivirus software, approximately 160 machines in 12 agencies were not.

The DAS worked with the agency information technology workforce and other agency partners to contain the virus. Jeffrey Beckham, a spokesman for the DAS, says they “have made significant progress and contained the virus.”

There are no reports of files being encrypted or any data loss, and the DAS does not anticipate that the cyber attack will have any impact on state business.
