DIY Gifts For Dads On Father’s Day

NEW HAVEN (WTNH) —   Father’s day is tomorrow. We got your back with three DIY crafts you can make at home with things lying around the house.

There is three simple Do It Yourself gifts that you can make with just a couple pieces of tools lying around.

  1. Nuts and Bolts heart:  Most of us have leftover nuts and bolts and screws and nails lying around so why not put them to good use for dad! You’ll need a plain canvas, some strong non-toxic glue and wooden letters if you’d like. Lightly outline the shape of a heart on your canvas and let the kids fill in with nuts/ bolts/ screws/ washers, etc. Add craft store letters to the finished product to personalize if you’d like!
  2. Wrench frame: All you need for this are 4 wrenches and epoxy glue. Overlap the wrenches as shown and glue together. Tape a photograph or drawing to the back and place in a stand for display.
  3. Handprint T-shirt: Trace your children’s hand prints onto freezer or contact paper and use an exact knife to cut out the shape. Attach the handprint onto the back of a t-shirt (iron on if using freezer paper and remove adhesive backing if using contact paper). With a spray bottle, spray either bleach OR fabric dye all around the handprint. Allow the bleach to sit until desired results are reached and then throw in the washing machine with freezer paper still attached.
