WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH)– The DOT has given an update in regards to the ongoing I-84 project in Waterbury.

According to the DOT, here’s what commuters in the area can expect for this week. For the exit 25 off ramp in the east bound direction:

  • Excavate and construct roadway west of Hamilton Avenue.
  • Place fill for new portion of I-84 (off-line) west of Harpers Ferry Road.
  • Local Roads
  • Hamilton Avenue Vicinity
  • Continue demolition of western portion of existing bridge; traffic has been shifted on bridge over I-84 to the east. Three lanes of traffic to be maintained with one thru lane in each direction and a left-turn lane from Hamilton Avenue SB to the I-84 EB on ramp. (night)
  • Excavation and trucking of materials.
  • Retaining wall 112 construction along EB Exit 23 off ramp.
  • Plank Road

In regards to sewer work:

  • One lane closed intermittently with alternating traffic.
  • Excavation and trucking of materials.
  • Pedestrian Bridge Across Mad River
  • Continue construction of pedestrian bridge across Mad River south of Hamilton Park.

And finally, rock blasting will occur three days this week:

  • Rock blasting to occur along I-84 EB Exit 23 off ramp and I-84 WB near Hamilton Avenue Bridge, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday between 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM.
  • Rock blasting to occur along Reidville Drive, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday between 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM.
  • Traffic stoppages on I-84, Hamilton Ave., Harpers Ferry Road and Reidville Drive to be implemented at time of blasts for safety reasons.
