Plainville teacher receives “Oscars of Teaching” award

It was a special honor for a teacher in Plainville who received the “Oscars of Teaching” award on Wednesday.

Michael Zaba teaches art at Toffolon Elementary.

Zaba earned $25,000 Milken Educator Award. He wants to show his students it is more than drawing and painting.

“As an educator, it’s a great honor. It’s difficult because I want to share it with everyone.Teaching is not just one person. It’s everyone, it’s all teachers. All the staff helps out,” said Zaba.

Zaba is the only winner from Connecticut this year and is among 33 honorees.
