WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– Today there will be a simulated explosion on the campus of the University of New Haven. All of it being planned by students as part of a learning experience.
This is certainly not something that happens every day on a college campus and it’s going to be a tremendous learning experience for the students.
Basically this simulation is going to involve a bomb going off inside a car near the German Club on campus. The simulation from there will then involve injuries, smoke, debris, emergency vehicles and a triage area, basically a real-life situation — but all of it is staged.
The exercise is being planned by various student groups. The drama club will also be involved, playing the part of the victims. All of this will allow students in the criminal justice and forensic sciences programs to take their classroom skills and apply them in a real world setting.
Students will be preparing for everything through the morning. The simulated explosion is set to go off around 10:30 a.m.
