An old scam with a new twist.
Eversource is warning everyone to watch out for crooks threatening to shut off service.
This time, instead of a phone call, they’re texting customers.
In one case, a customer was told their power would be shut off if they didn’t pay immediately.

The victim then got a text with a bar code to use for a Coinstar deposit.
Eversource says the company will never send messages like this.
