(WTNH) — Frontier Communications and WTNH continue to recognize kids in the community with great Minds, Values, and Promise. This week’s winner is Anna Murphy, from Stafford Springs. Anna is a kind and warm-hearted girl who wants to warm others through her volunteer work.
In Anna’s world, pennies add up. Since the fourth grade she has been collecting pennies where ever she can to raise money for needy families. Her charity is called “Warming Families Makes Cents.”
The first year Anna raised money, she and her teacher and classmates raised $1,000 and helped heat homes for two local families. Anna’s charity has expanded to include local businesses and organizations. Anna is now planning to run her second 5K race to raise even more money. The grand total she has raised so far is $15,000! That’s a lot of pennies!
