Family and friends gather to seek justice for man killed in I-95 hit and run


The family of man struck and killed on I-95 in East Haven late Tuesday night is pleading for the driver of the tractor trailer that hit him to come forward. 

Rafael Rivera’s family held a candlelight vigil Thursday night near the site of the deadly crash. Rivera’s family says he was bowling in East Haven before he and another person ran across 95 at around 11pm.

A tractor trailer struck and killed Rivera before driving off.

State police say the truck has a white cab with brown lettering on it and possible damage on the left front end. 

Rivera’s family says they do not know why he was on the highway, but they do believe the driver knows what happened. 

“They had to know what happened. all these lights out here. even someone driving by had to see something”, said cousin Ericka Morales. 

“Please come forward. You have a family. We as a family are asking for justice. We’re not going to stop we find the person who did it”, said cousin Aurora Randolph. 

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call police.
