Farmington couple receives stay of deportation


FARMINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) — A Farmington couple facing deportation to China has been granted a stay.

Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal announced on Thursday that Zhe Long Huang and Xiang Li were granted a stay.Related Content: Malloy urges Department of Homeland Security to grant stay for Farmington couple

On Monday, Gov. Dannel Malloy released a letter sent to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen requesting that her agency stay the deportation of the two.

The governor followed this up with a news conference on Thursday to urge the Department of Homeland Security to have a stay for the couple.Related Content: Malloy requests stay for Farmington parents facing deportation

The two business owners currently live in Farmington with their two children, who are both American citizens.
