BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — Michael Moore, the father of eight-year-old Daaron and six-year-old Aleisha, found dead in their gas-filled East Haven home Tuesday, says faith and support from family and friends is giving him the strength to go on while he copes with the loss of his beloved children.
Outside of his Bridgeport home, Moore couldn’t hold back the tears while talking about his children and the joy they brought to life.
“Anytime they were with me, they just had a smile on their faces,” he said. “I always promised to do right by them, and that daddy wants to make you smile one more time before you go home.”
Moore spoke passionately about the loves of his life.
“I mean Daaron, my only son, fun-loving, eight-years old, that just loved life to the fullest,” said the grieving father.
“My baby Aleisha, everything she did she excelled in,” he said. “She was very wise beyond her years, and talking with Aleisha would be just like talking to me or another adult.”
Moore did not want to talk about his relationship with the children’s mother, who remains hospitalized, or the police investigation.
He thanked family, friends, and his faith for giving him the strength to deal with all that has happened.
“Lots of praying, lots of prayer,” said Moore. “Lots of prayer being put up for me by a lot of friends in the community.”
Moore says he’s trying to raise money to help pay for proper burials for his two children. He’s hoping for the public’s help in that effort.
