(WTNH) — Air travelers will have some help when it comes to tracking delays on flights with the help of a new feature from Google Flight, a dedicated page from the search engine to discover and book travel. The website was launched in 2011 to help travelers track value pricing for airfares and make smarter purchases.
Using artificial intelligence, historical data and computer learning, Google will be able to predict which flights will be delayed due to many influencing factors, even before the airlines make the announcement. The new area will also tell travelers the reason behind the delay, but only if Google Flight is 80% confident on the delay prediction.Related Content:News 8 Now Available on Amazon Alexa
In addition to delay prediction, the service will also showcase what’s not included in economy tickets – such as seat selection capabilities and baggage or other fees – to compare across a variety of airlines upon booking for customers to be able to see how much extra they will have to spend in the total price of their trip.
It is always advised to check directly with the airline on actual delays rather than only based on predictions.
