Governor Lamont trying to protect Hartford woman from deportation


Governor Lamont is trying to protect a Hartford woman from deportation.

He is demanding federal authorities recognize pardons issued by the state for Wayzaro Walton who was detained for deportation after her criminal record was erased.

Walton’s supporters rallied in Hartford Wednesday after she was arrested by immigration officials.

She is being detained for deportation to England.

Connecticut’s Board of Pardons are paroles approved her pardon in January.

But, federal officials say they aren’t recognizing the pardon because it wasn’t issued by the Governor.
