Guilford Police warn residents against immigration scam

News

The latest scam to hit Guilford is not the IRS or Social Security – it’s ICE. Guilford Police say that the latest scam targeting residents is a Homeland Security ICE scam.

Police are advising that the Department of Homeland Security and ICE Agents will not ask for money, sexual favors or merchandise to fix your immigration issues, extend your visa, or provide you a green card.

Guilford Police have also provided a handy sheet of ways to spot imposters and help prevent being a victim of these scams. Check out these tips above.

If you have or think you might have been victimized by the scam, you can call the anonymous ICE hotline at 1-866-347-2423.
