Hamden PD: Edgerton Park copper thieves arrested

Hamden police arrested two men on Tuesday for stealing lead coated copper flashings from a Brewster Wall at Edgerton Park in late December.

Police said Donald Strait, 47 of New Haven and Justin Barlow, 47 of North Haven stole around 42 copper pieces from the New Haven park. Police were notified of the theft on December 22.

The park lost nearly $200,000 from the theft, which includes the worth of the copper pieces, other materials damaged and labor.

Both men received multiple charges including Larceny and Criminal Mischief.

Both were detained on a $5,000 bond and are scheduled to appear in court on May 14.
