Christopher Barreto, 29, sold heroin to a 31-year-old Enfield man on the evening of Aug. 25, 2016. Enfield Police were called to his home on the morning of Aug. 26, 2016 to find him unresponsive in the upstairs bedroom. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers searched the residence and seized an empty white wax fold and six full white wax folds that contained the suspected heroin. The victim’s cell phone was also seized, and after analyzing text messages, discovered the victim ordered heroin on the night of Aug. 25, 2016.
The second overdose occurred on Oct. 27, 2016 at another Enfield home where police found an unresponsive 36-year-old man outside the house. The victim was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead there.
Officers seized the victim’s cell phone along with 20 white wax folds containing the suspected heroin. Text messages revealed the victim bought heroin from the same individual as the August overdose two days before he passed.
Text messages showed that both victims purchased heroin from Barreto. Messages also revealed Barreto had consistently dealt drugs from April 2016 until Aug. 10, 2017- when he was arrested. 2,000 white wax folds of heroin were seized from Barreto’s home at the time of his arrest.
Barreto will be sentenced on Oct. 31, 2018 and faces a 20 year maximum sentence. He is released on bond pending his sentence.
