Hartford Wolf Pack forced to play home playoff games in Worcester, Mass.

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH)-Obviously, the people at the XL Center in Hartford had no faith in the Wolf Pack.

Fresh off of a first-round AHL playoff series win over the Providence Bruins, the Hartford Wolf Pack figured to return home to take on the Hershey Bears for Games 3 and 4 of their conference semifinals series, which were scheduled for May 10 and 11.

But the XL Center is already booked-as the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus is in town. So, the Wolf Pack will have to play Games 3 and 4 of the series at the DCU Center in Worcester, normally home to the Worcester Sharks.

Bridgeport’s Webster Bank Arena and the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield, Mass., were other options for the series, but since both of those cities’ AHL teams were eliminated from the playoffs, the ice has already been removed from those arenas.

So, the Wolf Pack will almost definitely be playing in front of a much scarcer crowd, about an hour away from Hartford.

Not the best planning there, for sure.
